With features such as calming sensory rooms and cosy quiet lounges, our home offers both stimulation and relaxation, catering to a range of preferences and moods. We offer a variety of 1:1 and group activities, as well as tailored therapies designed to enhance quality of life, helping residents stay active and connected in meaningful ways. At Deeside, we place the highest priority on creating positive, enjoyable experiences that foster a sense of belonging and purpose for residents and their families alike.

What is Dementia Care?

Within our dementia care home, we have a qualified team who work 24/7 to be on hand for our residents as much as they need. All of our residents have individual sets of skills and qualities that we value very highly at Deeside. We try to encourage our residents to utilise their skills and keep up their independence during their stay with us. The amount of assistance and care offered to our residents with dementia is completely customised to meet their individual needs.

No two people are the same, some individuals will only require minor support, while others will need considerably more. At Deeside, there is always someone available to give care on both a social and personal level; providing meaningful interactions and comfort.

Dementia Care at Deeside Care Home

It is important to us at Deeside that we provide a range of facilities to help our residents live independently but also in an environment that is going to be comfortable and stimulating for them. We are proud to offer a sensory room that provides a calming and therapeutic environment, promotes relaxation, and reduces stress and anxiety, especially in those with Dementia. The sensory elements, such as soothing lights, comfortable seating and relaxing sounds, create a serene atmosphere that helps residents to relax and feel calm. It is a versatile space for therapeutic interventions and activities. The sensory room is commonly used for relaxation exercises, meditation, sensory-based therapies, or as a multi-sensory environment for recreational activities and social interactions.

Dementia Care FAQs

Before residents move into Deeside Care Home, we schedule a consultation with our Home Manager, the prospective resident, and their loved ones. This helps us understand their unique needs, routines, interests, and preferences, which we then incorporate into their personalised care plans. We are committed to our person-centered approach to care, aiming to empower residents to maintain their independence and dignity while assuring them of our continuous support whenever they require it.

We are committed to the ongoing training and development of our staff, especially our dementia care team. They receive regular training to ensure they are well-informed about the latest advancements in dementia care and support. Our teams have the experience and expertise to deliver effective care to our residents with dementia. This includes providing support with activities, therapies, communication, mobility, managing medication, and assisting with personal care.

Deeside Care Home offers a diverse activities programme for all our residents, which encompasses both group and one-on-one activities and therapies. Our regular activities include arts and crafts, music therapy, sensory sessions and reminiscence activities which aim to enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our residents, especially thosex living with dementia.

At Deeside Care Home, we require a 28-day notice period for residents receiving any of our long-term care types and are looking to move out. Our compassionate team are on hand around the clock to support you with your moving transition and answer any further questions you have.
