Afternoon Tea

One of our residents' much-loved experiences at Deeside is when our in-house Chef, Steve, puts on an afternoon tea for our residents. Our afternoon teas are the perfect opportunity for our residents to get together, socialise with one another, and indulge in their favourite foods and sweet treats. 

At Deeside Care Home, Steve works closely with our residents to create new and exciting menus that are not only tailored to their food preferences but also ensures that they are maintaining a well-balanced and nutritional diet. 

Steve is passionate about offering our residents a wide variety of choices, and by doing so, Steve creates new meals within different cuisines to ensure that our residents receive a five-star dining experience. 

Arts & Crafts Sessions

At Deeside Care Home we want our residents to achieve the most out of each and every day. Whether it is taking up a new skill, or continuing to do something they love, we ensure that there is something for everyone.

Our dedicated team regularly come up with new and exciting arts and crafts activities for our residents to get creative with, allowing our residents to maintain socially and mentally stimulated. These sessions are often associated with seasonal events and are a fantastic way of creating wonderful crafts as gifts to their loved ones.

Our resident Beatrice's favourite arts and crafts activity is knitting. Beatrice used to knit lots, especially for her two sons. We believe it is extremely important to enable our residents to continue their favourite hobbies and our activities coordinators always take this on board to create a varied programme that meets all our residents interests.

Varied Activities Programme

Our devoted team are extremely passionate about ensuring that no two days are the same for our residents. Whether it's by learning new skills, meeting new people or just getting out and about in the community, we encourage our residents to take part in our full activities programme. Our activities coordinators are constantly on the go planning new activities for our residents to enjoy such as days out exploring the area of Aberdeen or receiving a special visit from their favourite therapy animals.

Reminiscence is also an important activity that we often do at Deeside Care Home. This can take form in playing favourite films and music, reliving special traditions, and going on trips to their home towns. We also reminisce with our residents by looking back at old photographs. Elizabeth, one of our residents, enjoys looking back at old photos of the shops she remembered in broad street local to where she used to work. 

Reminiscence is a fantastic way to relive fond memories and helps older people to focus on the positive and rewarding aspects of their past. This supports our residents in having more positive thoughts and also helps to trigger their memory, something that is especially important for those with dementia. 

We can be sure that there is never a dull moment at Deeside Care Home, and our residents are constantly spoilt for choice with plenty of things to do. Our activities programme plays an important role in the social and physical wellbeing of our residents as it focuses on them staying active and living a happy and fulfilled life.

A Trip to the Hair Salon

At Deeside Care Home, we like to give our residents the opportunity to always look and feel their very best at all times. We provide our residents with the very best facilities, one being our excellent in house hair salon and spa. Our hair salon and spa is the perfect space for our residents to relax, unwind, and enjoy a spa treatment by our team of qualified professionals.

We understand how important it is for our residents to look and feel they're very best, as it boosts their confidence and helps them to maintain their independence.

Our salon is also the ideal place for our residents to receive some well deserved time to themselves by indulging in a pamper session, whether it is face or body treatments, routine haircut and wash, or even being adventurous with a new hairstyle, we can be sure that our residents leave feeling great.

Making the Most of the Outdoors

At Deeside Care Home, we have beautiful private gardens for our residents to enjoy a breath of fresh air and to take a stroll around with their loved ones or fellow residents. When we are gifted with nice weather, we like to take advantage of our tranquil gardens and patio area, as it is the perfect place for our residents to enjoy alfresco dining as well as a wide range of outside activities. 

Our residents are provided with the opportunity to participate in a variety of garden projects such as channelling their inner green thumb and planting new crops, or enjoying afternoon tea on the grounds on a wonderful summer's day. 

Getting outside allows our residents to be active in the fresh air, as well as the added benefits from the sunshine and daylight. Walks outside can reduce stress levels and increase our resident's self-esteem, allowing for activity and sociability as well as contact with nature.

Cinema Room

We like to be sure that we have plenty of entertainment to provide our residents and in the high-class facilities that they deserve. Our contemporary 8-seat cinema room is the perfect opportunity for our residents to spend the afternoon sitting back, unwinding, and watching a classic film with one another, enjoying their favourite drinks and snacks to really get the full cinema experience. 

We have a wide selection of movies to offer our residents, whether they choose to reminisce with their favourite classics or enjoy a more recent release. No matter what their favourite type of film is, they are sure to be spoilt for choice.  

Evenings at Deeside Care Home

At Deeside Care Home, we like to make sure there is something exciting for our residents to do, no matter what time of day it is. When it comes to the evening, we want to ensure that those residents who are up later as part of their routine, have a wide option of things to do.

Whether our residents enjoy settling down and watching a movie, or like to sit with a puzzle, the choice is theirs. For those who like to spend their nights socialising, we often host happy hours and quiz nights for all our residents who wish to participate and it's a fantastic way of all getting together to share some fun and laughter.
