Pet Therapy Aplenty

Deeside Care Home has so much to offer its residents with an abundance of activities on hand offering plenty of choice and variety for all. One of the more favoured activities at the home is the visits they have from pets which not only brings much joy and merriment, though is also known for boosting general health and well-being and being a great source of companionship.

Alfie, the Home Manager’s dog can often be found in the home, he’s the friendliest dog you can meet and is often on the lookout for a stroke or two.  He is quite often joined by Alfie, Oscar and Benji the puppy who pop in for weekly visits.  At other times Francko the bearded dragon is also known to pop in along with guinea pigs. The home has also had visits from therapy miniature ponies, therapy goats, reptiles and spiders to name a few.

Diane, the Home Manager commented we so enjoy having pets around the home, they are always so welcomed and there is never a shortage of attention for them. Without a doubt you can see the positive effect from when the pets have visited and for a lot of our residents it bring back lots of happy memories of previous pets or memories of good time with friends and family.  We pride ourselves on offering a wide range of activities at Deeside Care Home to promote a varied and engaged lifestyle.
