Our Staff at Deeside Make a Difference

At Deeside Care Home we are extremely proud of our staff, they are the ones that make a difference to our residents' lives and the care home itself. COVID - 19 became an extremely difficult time at Deeside Care Home. The pandemic left a large impact on our residents and carers lives who had to isolate themselves for many months from their family and friends which was heartbreakingly difficult.

Diane Martin, the manager of our Deeside Care Home in Cults, is exceptionally proud of the staff and how they have handled the pandemic and stepped up over this time. Diane marked her appraisal towards the staff by throwing a celebration party for all of their hard work and for qualified nurse Margaret Duff for retiring after an outstanding 29 years at Deeside Care Home.

Diane said: “I’ve been here for two and a half years, and I don’t think I’ve ever had to advertise for staff. This industry has traditionally had a high turnover of staff, but not here at Deeside. Our staff are very settled here; they enjoy their jobs, love the residents, and that connection has been invaluable during the lockdowns over the past 15 months".

"We never use agency staff here. We’ve found that the continuity of nursing and caring staff is really important for our residents, especially when people were missing seeing their families in person."

Margaret, our staff nurse has retired this month after completing a long service within her time at Deeside Care Home. Margaret is a familiar face at Deeside and is respected and cherished by all of the residents and other members of staff. Margaret had made a massive difference to the wellbeing of the residents that were unable to have any family visits throughout the pandemic.

Diane added: “The residents and relatives have a great fondness for her and she was well respected by staff. She’s the perfect example of the team we have here at Deeside.”

We are proud to say that our friendly and welcoming atmosphere at Deeside encourages other staff members such as Margaret to complete marathon-length services, and have other staff members who have been here as long as 24 years.

We support all our residents in being as independent as possible, whilst making sure they know that we’re always on hand when they need us. We recognise the importance of our residents maintaining their daily routines, from enjoying their favourite hobbies and activities to getting together with their friends and family.

Diane added: “We know taking the decision to move yourself or a loved one into residential care is a big step. From the moment you arrive at Deeside Care Home, our staff will do everything possible to ensure that your stay is welcoming and comfortable and that Deeside becomes a real home-from-home.”

Our team is dedicated to facing life challenges straight on, they go above and beyond to overcome them. It is highly important to us at Deeside that we provide our residents with a life of love, safety and comfort. We know that taking the step to move into a care home isn't an easy one.

We want all of our residents and their loved ones alike to know that no matter what, our team at Deeside Care Home is devoted to helping them every step of the way. We strive to provide a home from home experience where residents feel loved, well cared for and encouraged to make the most of them every day.
