Love is in the Air at Deeside

Love was all around at Deeside Care Home. We decided to turn Valentine's Day into Valentine's Week. The home was beautifully decorated with heart-shaped balloons and red roses, and the residents were gifted with Valentine's themed edible treats.

On the 14th, all floors had a party with a professional singer for entertainment who sang an array of classic songs. Residents couldn't help but get up on their feet and dance with one another and also with staff members.

Everyone was in good spirits as residents chatted amongst one another while indulging in many tasty sweets. There were also alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to be had as residents gathered around at tables to come together for a joyful afternoon.

For 3 days we had "Mr and Mrs", where one-half of the home's couples invited the other for a special, romantic afternoon tea. Our chef made delicious sandwiches, cakes and heart-shaped biscuits. Residents made their own Valentine cards and wrote messages from the heart for their significant other.

We also had a couple celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary where they had a private party with loved ones. They had their own afternoon tea and presents from us including an anniversary cake and a bottle of bubbly.

It was fair to say that the week was a big success. A big thank you to the staff who made this happen.
