Glad to Care Week
Deeside Care Home is delighted to announce its involvement in #GladtoCare Week 2023 – a national awareness week dedicated to celebrating those who work in the care sector, which has returned for its fourth year.
Following the great success of the inaugural #GladtoCare Awareness Week that saw over 500 care homes take part and the #GladtoCare hashtag used over three million times in just one week, Deeside Care Home is getting involved in the event, which aims to celebrate the extraordinary contributions that carers make to the lives of recipients of care, their families, and community members.
The organisation hopes that the week will continue to highlight the outstanding dedication displayed by carers, who have gone above and beyond to make sure care home residents are kept safe, happy and entertained. It aims to champion their incredible work whilst simultaneously allowing them to shout about why they’re glad to work in the care sector.
Sharing the sentiment behind the awareness week, Deeside Care Home was keen to get involved and immediately registered its interest. Discussing its reasons for wanting to participate, Anna, Deeside Care Home Manager said: “To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honours”.
The home was able to take advantage of a free #GladtoCare digital toolkit including decorative bunting, display posters, social media graphics, and a bespoke activity calendar full of ideas for getting its residents involved.
We put on a delicious spread for our carers to enjoy and gifted them with some goody bags. There were also many thank you cards written to our care team by staff and residents of Deeside. The week also involved taking part in lots of fun activities for residents and staff.
It has been a fantastic week and our carers have enjoyed themselves immensely. A big thank you to the wider Deeside team who helped to make this happen.
