Deeside Care Home Celebrations

Deeside Care Home has experienced a joyous and celebratory couple of weeks, kicking off with the 100th birthday of one of our cherished residents. This milestone was made even more special by a visit from the Lord Provost of Aberdeen, adding a touch of grandeur to the occasion. The pink-themed celebration was a delightful surprise for Alice, who was moved to tears upon reuniting with friends and family. Alice received her invitation with breakfast on Saturday morning, followed by a visit from her hairdresser to ensure she looked picture-perfect for the day. The room was filled with joy as her loved ones, including grandchildren traveling from Thailand, Northern Ireland, Fort William and Glenelg shared their well-wishes. Guests enjoyed a cake adorned with a '100 and Fabulous' topper, displayed alongside a photo board chronicling Alice’s century of memories. Alice spent most of the party centre stage, wearing her birthday sash and tiara, with a glass of bubbly in hand.

We also celebrated Glad to Care Week; a national initiative aimed at highlighting the outstanding dedication of care teams across the country. This special week was dedicated to recognising the incredible efforts of our team, who go above and beyond to ensure that our residents live safe, happy and engaged lives. Throughout Glad to Care Week, the team at Deeside Care Home have been celebrating the positive difference they make to our residents and their loved ones. Our person-centred care is at the heart of what we offer, but we strive to go even further by focusing on the total wellbeing of each resident.

“Working in the care sector is not for the faint-hearted,” remarked Anna, Home Manager at Deeside Care Home. “It’s crucial that we recognise each of our team members for their valued contributions. #GladtoCare week allows us to do just that. With daily themes and a particular focus on our team’s wellbeing, there has been much to smile about with lots of fun and innovative activities throughout the week.” Anna continued, “I am so proud to work with such a dedicated and experienced team. It goes much deeper than professionalism; the team genuinely cares for each of our residents and regularly goes above and beyond to make a positive difference in their lives. Caring for someone’s loved one is one of the highest privileges and with my amazing team, I know that Deeside Care Home will continue to offer first-class care.” Deeside Care Home’s involvement in Glad to Care Week 2024 has been a resounding success, shining a light on the dedication of our team and the vibrant community we nurture.

The celebrations didn’t stop there...Our residents were treated to a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about cherished moments and creating new ones. One of the standout activities was ice skating, an event that brought joy and physical benefits to our residents. Ice skating is not only fun but also helps improve exercise, balance and social interaction, making it an excellent activity for seniors.
